“First with Kids” milestone underscores its impact

Acclaimed pediatrician marks 1,000th TV segment

It’s easy to find out how many First with Kids radio and television segments Lewis First, MD, has created since starting the popular series 20 years ago: a remarkable 1,000. But there’s no way to know how many thousands of parents and kids have benefited from his lively, friendly and practical tips and advice for raising healthy children.

His passion for helping parents comes through in every report. – Justin Antoniotti, president of NBC5.

“Knowing what to do about all of the medical, developmental and social challenges children face today is hard work for parents,” says First, who is chief of Pediatrics at the UVM Children’s Hospital and professor and chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the Larner College of Medicine. “I hope First with Kids makes that job a little easier and gives parents a path to follow to achieve their goal of raising healthy and happy children.”

Dr. Lewis First works with a crew from NBC5 to film one of 1,000 First with Kids segments.

“His passion for helping parents comes through in every report,” said Justin Antoniotti, president and general manager of NBC5, which has broadcast the weekly segments since fall 2010. “First with Kids fits perfectly with our public service mission, and we’re proud to be able to bring this important content to our community.”

First with Kids has been heard on WOKO-FM since 1996 and also appears as a column in weekly newspapers throughout Vermont.

Congratulations to Dr. First on reaching 1,000 segments! We look forward to many more.
