New building will have 128 beds when it opens in 2019
Construction workers, patient and family advisors, donors and hospital employees celebrated the placement of the last and highest structural beam on the Robert E. and Holly D. Miller Building at The University of Vermont Medical Center. The building will contain 128 new single-patient rooms and is expected to be completed in fall 2019.
The event included a traditional “topping off” ceremony – a 1,000-year-old tradition in which a tree is raised atop the building. The act is meant to protect the building and its inhabitants.Aan American flag and Vermont flag were also raised at the site.
